2015 Lost Highway Project with Bindi Pinot Noir - Macedon Ranges Australia

2015 Lost Highway Project with
Bindi Pinot Noir - Macedon Ranges
Australia

Michael Dhillon, Ronnie Sanders and Aaron Meeker assembled this wine a year and a half ago from tasting through more than 40 barrels of Pinot Noir. They settled on Block K, which is a block that Michael has always felt was the best block of the vineyard, but composed of some of the younger plantings. “K” is above ‘Block 5’ on the hill and has more clay in the soil than ‘5’ and offers more richness and power but with toned definition and cut. It was planted in 2001 on 480 million year old soils compass of mudstone, sandstone, siltstone, quartz and friable clay with some newer volcanic deposits. “K” has the highest concentration of sandstone on the vineyard and really brings a silky high note.

"A beautiful medium bright red color. Red and dark small berries; raspberries, red and dark cherries and plums. Dried spices. Creamy, gently oaky and bright. Combines freshness and power. On the palate it is fresh, full, very textured, powerful, flowing, very long and harmonious with a building, focused and driving finish. It seems to build and roll on. Ideally it will be cellared for five years and drunk until 15 years old. Let me say, this blend is one I would never have come up with however it looks fabulous and is a complex, powerful, long living wine!” - Michael Dillon

Accompanying this sumptuous wine is an original illustrated label created by famed rock poster artist Justin Hampton, who has worked with numerous rock luminaries, including Soundgarden, Queens of the Stone Age, Motorhead, Pearl Jam, and Radiohead to name a few. Justin illustrated our 2004 previous joint venture with Michael from Bindi Wines giving us a visual story telling of a woman making her way on the Lost Highway. Since we were getting the 'band back together' we thought that there would be no one better than Mr. Hampton to show us a glimpse of our beloved girl further down the highway on her new adventures. You can purchase a large limited edition screen print of this image from Justin and see his powerful Rock N' Roll imagery on his website.
