'My Cosmic Hand'
Blended from two parcels (60% is from the Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge, with the remainder coming from the mountains of Overberg). The grapes were hand-harvested and the Overberg lot was fermented entirely whole cluster while the Hemel-en-Aarde parcel was fermented whole berry. Following an varying extended ferment on skins the grapes were pressed and taken with full lees to old French barrels. The lees were stirred every two weeks for four months then monthly for the following four. The final two months the wine rested without any agitation and only racked one time prior to bottling. A rough filtration ensured a clean-ish color and a tiny bit of sulfur was added for stabilization.
The nose shows red cherry, wild strawberry, old spice cupboard, gentle floral notes and an attractive dried leaf character. Light bodied with sultry, perfumed, pure fruit. It is quite delicate with a lace like texture, superb length leading a grainy but satiny finish. It is very fine and detailed, a beguiling and classy example of 'raw' Pinot Noir.
