Described by The Telegraph's Victoria Moore as ‘a triumph, it’s completely delicious – like a wild cherry blossom nose-kiss’. Jane Macquitty, The Times critic writes: ‘Camel Valley’s strawberry scented Pinot Noir rosé Brut is ‘the best …’.

The grapes are picked at optimum ripeness and are crushed to retain more of the special fruit characters that are unique to grapes grown in England. The by-product of this is a delicate pink colour. Only the free run juice is used for the sparkling wine with the pressed juice going to still wine. The juice is cooled to 4°C to retain the delicate fruit aromas. The ferment temperature is only allowed to rise to 13°C resulting in more fruit character in the base wine. This wine has spent 12 months on the lees for fruit freshness and resulting in a fresh yeasty character.

Showing just a tiny reduction on the nose, but it soon shakes that off to reveal attractive oyster shell and limestone aromas tinged with red cherries. The palate is fresh on the entry, bright and vivid with a sappy saline twist towards the finish. This comes highly recommended.

CAMEL VALLEY VINEYARDS

CORNWALL

Tucked away down in Cornwall at the south-western tip of England lies one of the country’s most exciting wineries. Camel Valley Vineyards was set up by former Royal Air Force pilot Bob Lindo and his wife Annie on their farm in 1989 when the phrase 'English Wine' was an oxymoron. Their self-taught hard work and vision has been rewarded with a steady string of accolades from the first vintage onwards, a reputation that has been further bolstered since son Sam Lindo took over the reins as winemaker.  Learn More »
