This wine has generally drunk well above its price point and the 2015 offering is no different. McLaren Vale provides the base for the wine with plenty of cocoa powder (not going into chocolaty notes) and brambly red fruits; this is balanced by some cool fruit from Langhorne Creek bringing a mint infused blackberry cocktail.

All parcels were crushed, destemmed and left on skins for approximately 15 days during primary ferment. The parcels were then pressed and kept separate for malolactic fermentation. The warmth of the 2015 vintage is evident but the decision to keep the ferment entirely in stainless was the right call. The wine has more freshness and drive than many wines at this price point all the while delivering plenty of lively black and red fruits.

Spicy blackberry and cherry aromas are complemented by cracked pepper and dried violet. Juicy, plump dark fruit flavors betray no rough edges and are enlivened by a tangy mineral note. No excess fat here. Finishes bright, with uncommon complexity and length for the price point, making this a remarkable bargain.
