McLaren Vale

Fruit for this wine is sourced from a certified bio-dynamic vineyard in the heart of McLaren Vale. The geology of the vineyard is a mixture off maslin sand and calcareous siltstone over a limestone base, which is between 56 and 34 million years old.

The Cinsault was de-stemmed and wild fermented in an open fermenter. It was hand plunged daily before being basket pressed to old French oak before fermentation was complete. The wine rested on full lees for 6 months before being gravity racked to bottle. 50 ppm of SO2 was added prior to bottling. Unfined and unfiltered. In essence, Luke & Caleigh wanted to make a a lighter style of wine, built around a core of bright natural acidity that is pretty and that can be drunk slightly chilled in the summer months.

Amidst the chaos of a new baby, sleep deprivation, house renovations and juggling day jobs, the lure of fruit from a block of old vine Grenache was too much to resist. It was a crazy year, a life-changing year.  Learn More »
