'Vigna Favazza'
Etna Rosso DOC

It is true there really exists magical places where winemaking is simply not getting in the way of phenomenal grapes and terroir. The mountainside of Etna represents one of the most interesting terroirs, with the greatest prospective that Italian oenology could offer: old vineyards guarded by Sicilian vinedresser, beautiful lights that characterize this corner of Mediterranean and volcanic lands rich of micro elements whose unique composition change suddenly. This terroir, at the mountainside of Etna, allows cultivatation of a rare variety of great value such as Nerello Mascalese. ‘Vigna Favazza’ is a 2.5 acre plot at roughly 2,600 feet that sits on the north facing slopes of Mount Etna. Gnarly, 80 year old bush vines beckon the winemaker here.

Anima Libera is born from an inner desire of producing limited quantities of wines from some of the most enchanting places in Italy, inclined to winemaking and oenology. Learn More »
