The Zonte’s Footstep Lake Doctor Vineyard is on the shores of Lake Alexandrina where, each summer afternoon the house-cooling breeze of the ‘Lake Doctor’ arrives and revives vines and vignerons alike. This blend from the 'Lake Doctor' vineyard has been released every year since the inception of Zonte's Footstep in 2003.
Notes of pepper spice and a hint of stonefruit, Damson plum pudding and blackberry jam waft from a glass. Pure rose oil and just a few petals of violets. Rich and soft and fragrant red fruits. Some tangy cedar and lifted cigar box characters. The palate is full of juicy round blackberry sweetness, tempered with some taught but typical Shiraz tannin.
A peacock’s tail of juicy fruit flavor that fans out in the mouth with rolling soft, fine grained
fruit tannin. Malt, cedar and intense blackberry and caramelized orange peel. Minutes later, the flavor still lingers.
This is the tenth consecutive vintage of this wine. Though it will drink great now, especially
with anything off the grill, it should cellar well as previous vintages.
