It's the desire to showcase the quality of the Xabregas estate with a series of single vineyard wines called 'X by Xabregas.' This is the ultimate expression of the vineyard, crafted with minimal intervention.

Figtree Vineyard is the quintessential Western Australian vineyard with North facing slope, good elevation and raw ironstone gravel or ‘coffee rock’ if you are a local. The winemaking relies on superb low-yielding vines, simply ushering the wine into bottle.

2010 was similar to 2007 (a coveted vintage for Western Australia). The wet winter and spring gave the vines a great start and harvest remained dry until April, which meant low vigor and concentrated flavors. Most importantly Mount Barker stayed incredibly cool which allowed for the retention of spicy flavors and prolonged tannin ripening.

This is vivid red in color with a purple hue. The wine is intensely perfumed with a floral, violet note and sweet spice. These characters follow through on to the palate, giving an elegance and completeness with a persistent finish. This resembles Côte-Rôtie in the fullness of flavor while still maintaining linearity.
