Grenache
McLaren Vale

From Blewitt Springs and old bush vine Grenache, a single puncheon was filled with whole bunch fruit and left for 186 days, opened up and basket pressed. From here, you know the drill. Pretty sure Taras goes and purrs and rubs up and down against this wine as it sits quietly doing its thing in the winery. This wine is a complete paradox in that you look at it and see Pinot but you taste it and see everything glorious about Grenache (and Taras as well).

Glorious perfume of red fruits, earth, briar and sweet-sour of sarsaparilla or amaro herbs. It’s so slinky and satiny in texture, a glossy slide of slippery, gently sweet red and black fruit flavors that run with light, trim plush tannins as guide. It’s incredibly long in flavor, taut through the finish, refreshing in a way but never forgetting the architecture of fruit, acidity and tannin in compactness and layers. An incredible Grenache for joy of drinking above all. Complex and delicious, and needing a spell to un-shy.

OCHOTA BARRELS

ADELAIDE HILLS

The Ochota Barrels tale began on a surf trip, late 2000 along the Mexican west coast in a Volkswagen campervan. A final destination after traveling some of the world’s best wine and surf regions, Taras and Amber Ochota conceived the idea to make super premium wines back home in South Australia. The concept was to concentrate on the zenith variety of Mclaren Vale (Grenache) and the Barossa Valley (Shiraz), find an exceptional old vineyard site in each region and create plush, small batch, single vineyard wines. With the winery situated in Lenswood, and steep, high altutude, cool climate, north facing... Learn More »
