2015 Sami-Odi 'Mahé & Ribo' Syrah Barossa Valley

Wine Front
"Lovely spice notes in the bouquet, clove, pepper, cedary notes, old leather, tobacco, then dark fruits, anise, plums. Lots going on between brooding fruit and savouriness. Tight tannins and crisp acidity keep the wine in check. It’s juicy, but crunchy-textured, very long in flavour, spicy, moody with blue and black berry fruit feel. It’s got a lot more structure than I’ve seen from a Little Wine. It is very good and oh so delicious drinking."

"This has a deep sense of both flavors and texture, featuring ripe blackberry aromas that move into damson-plum and blueberry territory and some sarsaparilla, too. The palate folds rich chocolate into the mix of dark-plum and berry fruits, while the tannins are commanding but not confronting. It's all very fluid, deep and resonant — right through the ultra-long finish. So polished that you can happily drink it on release, but the wise move is to tackle it after 2022. There were just 15 barrels made of this blend, two-thirds of which come from Dallwitz old-vine material."
